An antique Berber kitab prayer amulet pendant framed by brass and sterling silver beads create this one of a kind modern ethnic necklace.
Small in size, but big in character, this old brass and silver Berber pendant has beautiful engraved decorations and 3 pretty little charms hanging from the bottom.
The prayer box amulet is framed with sterling silver beads, brass granulated and brass flat disc spacers leading to a bronze clasp. A brass extender chain, adorned with one more little charm, lets you adjust the length to suit.
Kitab is Arabic meaning “book”, and the silver and brass amulet usually contained verses from the Koran and was worn as protection by the Berbers.
Finished length: 17" + 3" extender and the kitab pendant measures 2" high x 15/16" wide
(43.2 cm length + 76mm extender chain - pendant 50mm high x 25mm wide)
I've named this necklace "Amardad" - In Zoroastrian mythology, this is the name of a goddess of immortality.
