A long vintage hamsa necklace with African carnelian beads and tribal brass beads.
Sourced in Mali the deep orange rust carnelian gemstone beads are combined with old brass bicone beads from Ethiopia and antique brass moulay beads or Igbo beads worn by the Fulani tribe in Nigeria. Brass and sterling silver spacer beads add texture and depth to this design.
The vintage hamsa pendant from Morocco has an unusual and interesting shape and has a slight golden tinge to the silver which plays off nicely against the carnelian and brass beads.
Bronze clasp.
Finished length is 26" (70 cm) and the hamsa pendant measures 2.75" h x 2" w (7cm h x 5cm w)
I've named this piece "Ala" for a popular creator goddess and earth mother of the Ibo people of Nigeria.
