A simple but exquisite contemporary ethnic necklace featuring an old enamel, silver and blue glass Moroccan pendant combined with an antique silver Berber perfume pendant.
The old silver perfume pendant is engraved with lovely designs and would have contained ambergris or scented paste. Look closely and you'll see there is a tiny silversmith hallmark on the top of the pendant shaft. These scent container pendants were typically worn by Berber people in the hair or as adornments on fibulae chains and headdress ornaments. Note the perfume pendant no longer opens.
Extremely old, the deep blue glass connector pendant has only very faint traces of enamel and the blue glass contains a few scratches and tiny chips. Approximately 60 – 80 years old, both elements exhibit signs of wear and age – please take note in the photos.
The 2 pendants together measure 3” in total and hang on a long vintage sterling silver rope chain. One of the chain ends unscrews to allow you to personalize and add your own charms if you desire.
One of a kind and a real conversation piece. Wear it alone or layer with other pieces for that ethnic boho vibe.
Finished length: 27.5” + 3” pendant drop (70 cm + 7.5 cm pendant drop)
The glass pendant measures 1.1" high (28mm) x .75" wide (17mm) and the perfume pendant measures 1.75" high (45mm) x 1" wide (25mm)
I’ve named this necklace “Alemona” who was a Roman goddess of passages.
